Swing Central is an annual swing dancing and social event fundraiser for 
the Champaign Central High School Band Boosters, this year featuring 
Champaign Central's three jazz bands as well as the jazz bands from 
Urbana High School and Edison Middle School. An hors d'oeuvres buffet 
will be available until 9:30, and there will be a cash bar. The evening 
concludes with a special performance by our headline band: Bruiser and

Fred Wesley is one of the architects of funk music: musical-director,
trombonist, and composer/arranger for James Brown from 1968-1975,
arranger and trombonist for Parliament-Funkadelic and Bootsy Collins
Rubber Band, leader of the J.B.'s, and sampled by many well-known
artists such as Janet Jackson and Nas. He is also a well-known jazz
trombonist leading his own jazz groups and performed/recorded with the
Count Basie Orchestra.
