Jazz Orchestra's visit to Krannert this weekend on Saturday, October

4-6pm - special jazz forum/workshop: "Precepts of Swing", Krannert
Center (location TBA).  All are welcome and encouraged to participate.
  Bring instruments as they will breaking into sectionals from 5-6 in
various rooms in Krannert.

They had already started their long slide into hibernation when the
aroma of lamb (laromba)brought the weasels back toward consciousness (at
least to the extent possible).  Tonight (thursday) they brave the cold
to sample that lamb once more before the Big Sleep (aka the time between
Zorba's gigs).  The furry wigglers have compiled a varied mix of jazz
standards and obscure toons, laced with a dollop of Weas-O-riginals and
arrangements intended to sooth the savage jazz palate (we'll just see
about that).

Hello All,

My sextet will be performing the exciting music of longtime
Champaign-Urbana trumpeter and composer John "Dok" Scott this coming
Sunday Oct 25, 5-8pm at the Iron Post.

The group will feature trumpeters Jeff Helgesen and Nick Schroeder,
myself on saxophone and bassist Chris Nolte along with two former
members of Dok's ensembles - pianist Mike Styker, presently Jazz Piano
Professor at Western Illinois University and drummer Danny Deckard, an
outstanding musician who is an integral part of the Indianapolis and
Bloomington, IN jazz scenes.

Come on out and enjoy this music!! Big thanks go to Jeff Machota for
sponsoring the return of Mike Stryker and Danny Deckard to CU!!

Also, this will be my last gig as an official Urbana resident. I'm
moving back to the Chicago area, so please come by for a last hang!!
