Your are all cordially invited to attend the Next Semi-Annual Reonion of
the Weasel Dreams Sextet, who will awake from their hibernation long
enough to scurry to the Iron Post to perform this afternoon, Friday,
5-7. It is a little-known factoid that weasels are extremely fond of
onions, which thus serve as an inducement to show up. Bribing with food
has long been known to be an effective attractant for jazz musicians as
well as office workers.

Because of some incidents of sleeping on the bandstand (Hence the
"Dreaming" part, but the snoring is distracting to the soloist) the
Weasels have produced enough new charts to keep all members in a
reputation-protecting mode, which aids awakeness, without completely
eliminating the potential for a disasterous train wreck (for all you
excitement junkies out there). However, we are naturally hoping for some
safe sextet, as well.

Your weasels, should you choose to accept them, are:

Tom Singer and Shab Wirtel - Fliegel Horn and Strumpet (not necessarily
in that order)
Peter Roubal -Tenure Saxyphone and eastern european currency (in that order)

the gig)

Steve Gorn (bansuri flutes), Yosef Ben Israel (bass) and Jason Finkelman
(percussion) are presenting a special concert of creative, improvised
music reflecting their cross-cultural world jazz backgrounds.  New York
State based Steve Gorn is recognized as a master of the Bansuri flute,
performing in traditional, classical Indian music and regarded as a
pioneer in "world music" recordings, staring with Asian Journal issued
in 1988.  Chicago bassist Yosef Ben Israel's hallmark is his versatility
in performing a variety of musical styles including jazz, blues and the
avant-garde.  Urbana based percussionist Jason Finkelman specializes in
the berimbau, an Afro-Brazilian bow instrument, and performs primarily
as an improviser on a wide variety of instruments handcrafted by Adimu
Kuumba.
