BELLEVILLE WEST JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The band will perform on Monday, May 19 from 5-7p at the Iron Post in
Urbana.  Following a Sunday performance in St. Charles, Illinois, the
band will record at Pogo Studios on Tuesday.  We hope that you enjoy
the band and look forward to seeing you on Monday at the Iron Post.

Tom Birkner is former director of the University of Illinois Jazz Band
and jazz studies program and an alumnus of  the program under the
direction John Garvey, both as a trumpet soloist and vocalist.  Tom
served as a student teacher and interim director of the Central High
School music program, and was a member of several excellent ensembles
while a resident of the C-U area, including Medicare 7-8-9, The New
Golden Rule Orchestra, the Pocket Big Band, and many others.
