Solo jazz guitarist Mark Smart will provide live music for a reception
and book signing at Illini Union Bookstore on Wednesday, March 28, at
4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Austrian scholars
Karl and Albert Muller will be there to chat about and sign copies of
their new edited collection entitled, “An Unfinished Revolution? Heinz
von Foerster and the Biological Computer Laboratory (1958-1976)”
A University of Illinois professor for nearly 30 years, Heinz von
Foerster made Illinois the center of the cybernetics world with his
legendary laboratory, where scientists, engineers, humanists, and
artists collaborated on adventurous comparative investigations of living
organisms and machines.
Contributors to the new book will also be there to talk and sign copies.
Come for the cybernetics, or come for the solo guitar, or come for both.
But come!
