C-U Jazz Crusaders is a new jazz ensemble in Champaign/Urbana playing
the music of the original group "The Jazz Crusaders".  C-U Jazz
Crusaders will be performing their music, which was recorded between
early 1960s to the present day (jazz, rock, blues, and Latin).

We will be featuring Shawn Purcell on guitar.  Shawn has been one of the
top jazz guitarists in Washington D.C. and the Nashville area.  Shawn
has recorded 5 albums with the United States AirForce "Airmen of Note",
including many more jazz and rock recordings in the Washington D.C.
area.  He has backed up artists such as Chester Thompson, Carl Allen,
Jim McNeely, Eddie Daniels, Herbie Hancock, Conrad Herwig, Clark Terry,
Randy Brecker.  Shaw has also worked with Peabo Bryson, The Temptations,
B.B. Winans, Quincy Jones, Kenny Rankin, and others.  In addition to
performing, Shawn travels around the U.S. giving guitar clinics, both
professional and high school level.
