Krannert Art Museum, 500 E. Peabody Dr., Champaign.
The Sudden Sound Concert Series at the Krannert Art Museum seeks to
present creative artists exploring the art of improvised music and the
jazz avant-garde.  On Thursday, October 12th at 7:30PM our Fall '06
season opens with Bloom, a San Francisco based ensemble combining the
disparate and divergent stylistic histories of it's members Thollem
Mcdonas (piano,trumpet), Jon Brumit (drums,percussion, other stuff), and
Rent Romus (saxophones, electronics).  Together they present improvised
music with a sense of refreshing immediacy, intensity, and inventiveness.

Pianist* Thollem McDonas*, who currently resides in Prague, "welds
elements of jazz, blues and classical music into a mighty tower of song,
then shatters his construct with the breathless bull-rush of a mystic
improviser" -The River Front Times. * Jon Brumit's* composed and
improvised music incorporating percussion, electronics, sampling, found
objects, and signal processing has been labeled "physically
debilitating" and "intellectually refreshing" by art critics, and his
performances have been declared "disarmingly powerful" and "extremely
adventurous and explosive [for ambient music]" by rock and noise
musicians. * Rent Romus* is a force spanning over twenty years of
original improvised music, production, and performance spanning a wide
range of sound aesthetics and genres.
